Event console
From DoWire Wiki
The event console will require the most development work with Democaster.
Our goal is to allow browser-based audio input to the server - both real-time or after a meeting if the event was digitally recorded.
The console will:
- Allow content producers to access their account on the server and deal with media content management.
- Accept audio upstreams via an adequate direct Internet connection. Modem connections need not be supported at this time because of the telephone options.
- Accept uploads of previously recorded MP3 and Ogg files.
- Allow producers to test the level and quality of their sound input as well as verify that their sound is being served appropriately.
- Encourage producers to input agenda items and time stamp items during the meeting. This time stamp information would be saved such that archive listeners can easily jump to the item they want to listen to at a meeting via our player applet.
- Capture webcam images during live recording from at least one camera, perhaps multiple cameras.
- Upload other jpeg images and determine their order of presentation and synchronize display with audio stream times. (If people pause the audio, the images may keep playing unless the player knows to halt the slide show).
- Allow a producer to access telephone contributed audio files to enhance or better sort or describe that content.
- Display the number of those listening to the real-time stream.
We are exploring Java-based options currently, but are open to Flash-based options. We recently became aware of the K-Amp product which allows people to upload MP3 recording and offer them through a player using Flash. The Freedom Audio applet demonstrates the use of Java to allow folks to upload their streams without special software.
