Disambiguate plural
From DoWire Wiki
This is a wiki best practice on the list of process terms applicable to both public and private sector use.
To disambiguate plurals is important because a plural can be used in several ways:
- casually in reference to a definition
- invoking a specific list of instances, to which some statement applies to each separately
- meaning to imply some interaction or classification of the list itself
To avoid a mess, try to prefer singular forms, e.g. write [[troll]]s rather than [[trolls]] wherever possible. Where invoking a specific list of instances, use [[list of trolls]]. Redirect the plural [[trolls]] to [[list of trolls]] by putting this text at [[trolls]]:
- #REDIRECT [[list of trolls]]
If for any reason there is a need to discuss trolls, or any other plural concept, separately from the singular concept, then, add a line at the top to link clearly to the definition [[troll]] and the list [[list of trolls]] and then use the rest of the article [[trolls]] why it is not simply a redirect to a list.
