Disambiguate

From DoWire Wiki

This is a wiki best practice.

What if two wiki articles have the same name? This happens when a topic is relevant to multiple differing purposes or points of view which are competing for the same topic name (see NPOV).

This may be handled in several ways.

  1. dominant POV wins. if friendly to other POVs, the article includes links to a disambiguation page for any browsers interested in other definitions.
  2. both articles share the page, separated by a horizontal line.
  3. both articles split to their own pages, using parenthesis to identify the POV.
  4. no POV wins. links to the more specific articles are simply added to a list.

Articles that unintentionally link to a disambiguation page should be fixed to link to the more-specific article.
