The final part of the process is in the player. While playing the program is the most simple of the whole process, it does introduce some technical considerations.
The first of these considerations is in the users ability to access the content. In corporate and government environments, many users are not able to access your content because of a firewall blocking access to streaming media content or their network administrators blocking access to them installing the player.
Before implementing a webcast strategy it is important to survey the users of the content to see if they will be able to access streaming media, or to discuss the concept with management and network administrators in advance.
When you audience are home or small business users, firewall blocks and computer access rights tend to be less of a consideration, instead there is a consideration around the speed at which users are able to access the computers, and sometimes the support they have in using their systems.
Broadband is essential for any user who intends to use a lot of streaming media or interactive components of the Internet, however broadband penitration tends to disproportionately be adopted in greater degrees by those in higher socioeconomic status.
If deploying a webcast strategy in the public sector, it may be good public policy to make the content accessable in a public library or other access point to balance out difficulties in access.
