Laurel, Annika, Steven and Liam Clift

As they say, things move rapidly in the information age. Laurel and baby are doing great, despite less than two hours from the first contraction to birth at 2:28 a.m. on Thursday, August 30th.

Whether it is the laughter of my son Liam (almost two) or watching for the next little expression from a seven pound, 19 inch baby – life is fun, great and inspiring.

I could say something profound about passing on democratic participation to their generation, but I don’t believe we can pass much on. We must continuously use the tools of our time to rebuild the natural and extensive democratic erosion that comes from our habit of taking past democratic accomplishments for granted. So for Annika and Liam, I promise to help equip you to build democracy and community for yourselves.

For the more open source folks, I pointed out the Poetry section of Librivox. At Librivox, volunteers read books in the public domain and share the audio files online. Steve Clift, a great edemocracy activist, announces the arrivalA new e-citizen! Annika Jo Clift. Everyone looks very happy. From a Second Life Educators mailing list, Anthony Fontana of the Polychronic Classroom notes a Reuters Second Life article about HBO buying a machinima film created in Second Life

m looking forward to seeing him again and to meeting face-to-face (after many e-mails) Iâ€™ll finally have a face to face with Steve Clift, a pioneer in e-democracy and an international consultant, author / creator of DoWire, Ashoka Fellow andnew father. (How DOES he do it all?) Iâ€™ll also get to see my friends I worked with on the KERA Arts Alive Project whose company Creation in Common is based in St. Paul. This will be soooo fun! Hereâ€™s my schedule so far:
